Monochrome Monday

Posted by Picasa
I have not done anything to these photos.
They are as they were taken on the 31st of December 2008.
A monochrome day.
It's a Hydrangea aspera sargentiana in my garden.
Monochrome Monday is hosted by Monochrome Maniac Aileni.

  2. Very neat b&w's. Did look up the plant to see what it looked like in the summertime.

  6. Looks a lot like that here today. Beautifully captured "found" monochrome. I might have a few of those to share myself in the near future.

  7. That's a beautiful shot. I love the way hydrangeas look in the winter. I also like to photograph the skeletal ones in my garden.

  11. Beautiful shots Carolina. I love it when the frost is heavy and sticks to the trees like that!

  14. Beautiful shot, even the remnants are lovely and black and white perfects them.

  15. The detail in these are wonderful.

And whist I like the original and I respect you posting them "as taken", I would still like to see the bottom one with a little extra contrast.

Black & white when developed in the darkroom always gave you to option to set a true black point and white point. It was never considered "cheating" but part of the process... let's not feel guitly for doing the same with digital :)

  16. Manz,
ah, yes, but, see, I have never developed my own photos, so I did not know that ;-)
Up to now, coincidence was a BIG part of making nice photos. With the new camera however...gosh, the pressure ;-)

  17. Don't feel pressured Carolina... takes the joy out of photography.

Not that I should talk! My family see me as the "photographer" of the bunch and there is an expectation to take photos at every family event. The "pressure" it made me feel has resulted in my not taking my camera ALL the time. I love taking photos - but I have to be in the mood ;)

You have a great eye - which is the most important thing. Everything else will come as you figure out the new camera.
