Aleksandra

Dear Aleksandra, Thank you very much for joining my 'followers'-list. Before the blogspotwhizzkids decided they could 'improve' the 'follower'-gadget or -widget, whatever we are supposed to call it, I (well, we all) could click on the photo of a 'follower' and as if by magic the 'follower's' profile would appear and I could go to their blog to inform them of my gratitude for their decision to join the weird but wonderful people (or dogs or cats as the case may be) who are my 'followers'. (*take a breath*) Unfortunately not anymore. If I click on your photo now, the magic brings me to a list of blogs that you've just joined. I don't want to know that. I want to get to know you! But where are you? WHERE ARE YOU? How the ..... (fill in whatever you feel is appropriate in times of need) can I find your blog? I think I may hate the people who decided the 'followers'list needed improving. I liked it just the way it was. And, reading other blogs, I'm not just guessing a lot of bloggers feel that way. The lay-out of the gad/widget has not improved either. It has become an ugly little thing. Maybe we need a revolution! So, Aleksandra, I'm sorry that I can only visit your blog if you leave me a comment on one of my posts. But welcome nevertheless. Yours faithfully, Carolina

  1. Don't ya just hate that?! I had the same problem. But I found I was able to find my followers blog by typing in there name in the address bar plus blogspot.com, VOILA, I found them.
    Perhaps that can help you.

    Hugs.

Aha, but that will only work if you now their blogspot name will it not? I mean, if you type Carolina.blogspot.com, you may find someone, but not me.
Or is the name attached to the photo always the blogspotname? If that is so, problem solved. Still, I don't think it is an improvement.
    But thanks for the suggestion!

  4. Please try it with aleksandra.blogspot.com. If you can make any sense out of that what appears on your screen, please let me know. No idea what language that is. Something East-European maybe? Interesting!

  5. "Maybe we need a revolution!"

Be careful what you ask for, Caroline. The scariest thing about us is change. And, if we didn't have it, what would we talk about?

  8. Carolina, this is Aleksandra's profile and her two blogs http://www.blogger.com/profile/07514059217994184072

I don't like the new follower widget, for exactly the same reasons you do not! See you soon, x

  9. Gets my vote for worst Blogger improvement ever. It looks like a billboard.

  10. Ahhhh ... Lady Banana passed on the trick that I came armed with.

I have to admit that this widget gives more information on each of the followers and that's a good thing ... but it seems a little clumsier to me, and I haven't figured out if my missing 5 followers actually left or were a consequence of the change.

Remember the business mantra: change is good!

  11. One of my biggest pet peeves is when people have to try and "fix" something that was already working fine. LOL

    Hope you are well.

  13. My followers thingy is way at the bottom of my blog. Sometimes I forget it's there. But today as a matter of fact I did scroll down there and I noticed it looked very very different. So that's what it is, huh?

    Sheesh.

  14. Methinks there is some mischief afoot. I posted a response to a comment in Laptoptrouble and the bot seems to have lost it.
Anyway I don't live near you, Caroline, so you can't hold me entirely responsible.

As for the follower whatsit upsets, they are sort of explained in the Blogger Buzz tab on the Dashboard.

  15. Ivan Toblog,
yes, I know the dislike of the 'follower'whatsit can be the result of fear of change. I know *sigh* And we have to get used to it, and when they changed it I've read the blogger buzz tab to try to make sense of it, but it still is ugly and I still don't understand it fully. Now, reasons for that:
    - I'm not too bright,
    - English is a foreign language to me,
    - it isn't explained properly?
Anyway, thanks for your input. Have a great day!

    Aleksandra,
well, now that we've found you ;-), I've been to your blog and wrote you a comment there.

    Important woman,
    thanks, found her!
Is it just our fear of change? NON, je ne pense pas! Or something like that anyway ;-)

    Life with dogs,
maybe some flashing neonlights will improve the thing?

    Lady Banana,
aaah, but yesterday, when I clicked on the picture, there was nothing to scroll down too. It just transported me to a new page, where the only information was what I described. I've tried it now, and nów I can scroll down.
You are just one of the brighter bloggers of the bunch ;-) Clever woman!

    Ro,
so you belong to the clever bunch too ;-) And change isn't always good! Believe you me! Why fix something that isn't broken? Or is that just a conservative thought?

    Cece,
I'm with you on that! I'm slowly recovering from the initial shock of the change, but I'm okay, thanks ;-)

    Andrea,
See, I'm considering you as part of the clever bunch, but you don't like it either. That is a comforting thought. ;-)

    Barb a.k.a. Skittles,
I'm speechless! Your 'followers'list at the bottom of your page? Forgetting that it's there? But you have to count your 'followers' every day! Suppose someone goes missing? You have to organize/organise a search! Or what if you gain a new 'follower'? How would you know? Gosh, I don't know, you must be the sanest, most confident person in blogworld ;-)

  16. I miss the old way. sigh. I'll just start repeating my mantra and I'll feel better.... "change is good...change is good.... change IS good.... Change is GOOD... CHANGE is good... nope. still don't believe it.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Right. We should tell Blogger: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

  18. I'm feeling this same pain at my blog.
