Surprise!

When the old tiles were removed from the wall and part of the plaster spontaneously came off too, we made an Amááázin' Discovery!

There used to be a door in that wall! Yes, I know! You are just as surprised as we were! In truth you are probably thinking: "Is this it? Did she wake us up for thát?" Yes. I did. But don't forget what I had to do just to show you this glimpse from the past. And I also hit my toe on the way to my uploadingequipment, which had a weird effect on my limbo dance I can tell you!

See how much you mean to me?

And if you are wondering what that round thing is, that's going to be the tap. Yes. Weird looking contraption isn't it?

  1. Exciting discovery! Nice brick too. Just how old is your house anyway?

  2. Jewels, it was originally built in 1903 I believe. But the wall with the door is probably of a later date. The reddish colour is stuff the bathroompeople put on it to seal the walls. It's already covered with plaster again.

  3. How exciting!! My husband and I have always dreamed of buying an old farmhouse or something similar and spending time redoing things. I would love to find old treasures within the home. Thanks for sharing.

    Enjoy your weekend.

  6. On this flat screen it looks like a small phosphorescent mermaid is sailing in from stage right - or is it left? Stage instructions always baffle me...

  7. Great discovery. This would be even more interesting if you discovered a secret room on the other side.:))

  8. Jinksy, I thought you didn't drink? LOL
I could not see anything like that from stage right or from stage left. But I'll try again.
    Hugs xx

  9. oOo, hidden rooms are so intriguing! Or maybe it's a door to nowhere, or to another dimension! Curiouser and curiouser!

  10. Skittles, (sorry, hadn't seen you there) I know where the door used to lead to, outside. But now, if it would still exist, it would lead to our livingroom. Although, if the door would still be there and you would go through it, you would end up behind a wooden wall. Oh, this Winchester-house keeps coming back to haunt us ;-o

  11. T, fairly sure there is no secret room there. Unless it is a really spooky house......mwahahaha

Fireblossom, you blogpeople are weird, too much imagination (oops, I'm a blogperson too). Maybe it's our door to Narnia ;-)

  12. That is so cool! That's just one of the many reasons I love old houses.
