In vain

Camera Critters #46
Last year we adopted 4 young cats and when they entered our home, mid-summer 2008, little Mozes immediately adopted Phoebe, our 12-year old labrador. "Mommy!", he thought, although she doesn't look like his mommy, but Mozes looked at the colour of his own fur, compared that to the colour of our dogs, and decided there and then: "I must be one of them!" And Mozes proved to be a thirsty little boy. And Phoebe proved to be a very patient, sweet dog.
But we already knew that.
So Mozes suckled, making all the right noises. All in vain.

He still does!

  6. Your Phoebe is such a love! We had a kitten who adopted his auntie (another cat) and tried to suck from her. She ended with a bald nipple! I wonder why Phoebe puts up with this.

  12. That's really strange. There must be some reward to the behavior, else it would have extinguished long ago. We know there's no milk as the reward, so it must be emotional? Interesting!

  25. Carolina,
How cute these two are! What an amazingly patient dog! This is my first post to CC and to your blog. Naloma is beautiful- how exciting for both of you! I love babies. I love horses. I especially love baby horses! I have two fillys, a 3 year old and a yearling. If you get a chance to check out my blog please tell me what breed Naloma is and all about the baby too! I would love to train in Dressage. I ride western but I believe that regarless of what type of saddle you're in, dressage is the best way to ride a horse- to be one with your horse- amazing!
