The recipe for the roasted fish, potato, asparagus with dill butter was posted by
Pam on Sidewalk Shoes last Thursday (today she posted something about Strawberry Muffins, oh yum, that I haven't even read yet, because the photo only was enough to make me hungry and I was afraid that reading the actual recipe would just be too much of a good thing) and if you want to make it yourself (I can highly recommend it) you have to follow the link. It looked utterly delicious and seemed easy enough to make. Therefore (I'm using too many 'so's', so -see?- I'm trying alternatives) I decided to cook this for hubs and me today. First and most important: it was easy to make and tasted delicious indeed!
Now, if you go over to Pam's and see the photo she has put up with her recipe, you'll see the fish prominently featuring. "Where is your fish?", I hear you ask. Although I don't eat meat, I will now and again eat fish, thus me being a vegetarian isn't the reason for it's absence. We even bought fish. To be honest I'm not even sure what kind of fish it was, because hubs bought it while I was pretending to be interested, meanwhile trying not to look at those poor dead creatures or what was left of them. And when it was almost time to add the fish to the dish, I discovered it had lots and lots of tiny little bones still stuck in it, alongside of where the backbone had been. I'm sorry, but that was just too much. I'm a hypocrite and do not want to be reminded that the poor fish had a backbone once.
Hubs suggested I'd better cook the fish and feed it to the cats.
Hence the title.
But the potatoes and the asparagus and the dill butter, with some Maldon seasalt flakes... delicious!
It looks really nice and those strawberry muffins sound gorgeous. I might have to pop over. I must pop over. I have to pop over!!!
ReplyDeleteYea...I was a vegetarian for 10 years for many reasons in my 20's...I have since gotten over those and find organic meats now, and try not to think of the rest!
ReplyDeleteLovely meal..and the cats would love you for any such cooked offerings!

YUM! I love aspargus... asparagas... aspara.. whatever. I like that green stuff that looks like little green spears. I usually bake it with butter and parmasean... parmasan... parma.. that cheese that smells like stinky feet. I've never tried it with dill. What a great idea. I'm going to make it this week. Ok. I'm probably not, but I'm definitely going to buy the groceries to make it... and then probably just end up steaming it and wishing I had time to make it. I could eat that photo though. You've plated your feast in a very pleasing fashion. You could be in a foodie magazine!
ReplyDeleteLooks perfect to me...just add some strawberry muffins! ")
ReplyDeleteLucky kitties!
ReplyDeleteLooks good even without the fish!! My kitty cats would love you. All they every get from me is an occasional bite of chicken every now and then.
ReplyDeleteWow looks fine just by itself actually! A must try. I LOVE dill!
ReplyDeleteThat food looks absolutely delicious!
ReplyDeleteThe cats didn't even want to eat the fish. Can you believe that?I wrote this post before the cats got their dinner. I thought they'd be delighted too. But they prefer canned and dried food :-O
ReplyDeleteRhymeswithplague,
Tonight we're back to the 'stamppot' again. 'Stamppot Postelein' this time. I have no idea what that could be in English. I'll post photos and wait until one of you comes up with the answer ;-)
