Yesterday a friend and I attended a workshop horse photography. We had a lovely time and learned something too. I hasten to add that I unfortunately did not put everything I learned into practice, but some shots came out quite nice. The fact that the horses were beautiful, but which horse isn’t, and very well-behaved did help. They just stood still where they were told to. (Our own horses either decide to take a closer look at the camera and put their nose into the lens, leaving sand and drool everywhere, or they just keep looking the other way.)
The weather and location were beautiful too.
Very well-behaved horse. Ours wouldn’t have had time to pose for the photographers. They would have been too busy grazing.
Gorgeous horse.
Very relaxed horse.
This photo could have obviously been a lot sharper, but I do like the shot because of the moment captured.
And I have made lots more photos, but I shot them all in RAW, so I’ll have to ‘process’ them first, before I can publish them. It is clear that it’s difficult: to get the colours right, the sharpness right, the light right and to capture the action. I’ll just have to keep practicing. And practicing. Sigh. Good job I like taking photos.
The beautiful horse in the first photo looks as though it's just stepped out of a fairy tale. I love the sixth photo too - that wonderful mouth. You're right - they're all beautiful -big, strong, elegant. I wish they could be called something other than 'horse' though - it's just not a fitting name for them, much too rough and ready!
ReplyDeleteReally great shots. The horses are amazing and you're doing great!
ReplyDeleteHugs & love,
Mimi
They look pretty darn good to me!
ReplyDeleteI know nothing about photography, but I know what I like -- and I like these photos very much!
ReplyDeleteIn every photo, Carolina, I am aware of the sunlight. And the horses, of course, are magnificent!
Great pics! Love that Palomino...
ReplyDeleteI like them all! If I ever try to take a photo of something moving I get a big blur and that's it. Very annoying.
ReplyDeleteHi there dear!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm catching up on you !
NEAT-O- on the class in photography. Wonderful shots...really nice work. That paintish Palomino's 3 in a row cantering gate, was very awesome!LOVED it's musceling bum and how it had a part in the middle~
I should learn how to use the manual part of my digital. I wish it were a DSLR. Love to know the specs on these shots..maybe I could learn from you.
Okay...your last comment was so sweet..I really must know why though- that funky post of my quirky mare and how I have learned to deal- was special to you.
I'd love to be able to go to a photography clinic to take pictures of my horses. As you say they always seem to be grazing or moving or not paying attention. I have to sneak up of them.
ReplyDeleteWish I knew more about my camera and taking RAW shots but at this point it's purely point and shoot and hope for the best.
I did find a nice blog on equine photography if you would be interested in checking them out I think it is informative and I'm hoping it will help me take better pictures and process them. The blog is:http://capturethelightequine.blogspot.com
As usual, your photos are all quite lovely, as is the commentary. But I just love the closeup of your horse's muzzle. You've provided me with a nice break from a rainy, cold Sunday afternoon in Ohio.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous horses! Just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is the first one of the rider, when she's going away from us. There's a lot of movement and vibrancy in that shot!
I think you did really well. You got some nice shots and most were pretty sharp which I know from experience isn't easy.
