Sunday Selections

Sunday Selections is hosted by the lovely Kim from Frogpondsrock. It’s an opportunity to post those photos that have been hanging around on your computer, waiting for a chance to be seen. (Awww, those poor unseen photos.)

Now, my Sunday Selections for this week haven’t been hanging around on my computer for long. I took these shots just last week. But before they disappear into the unorganized world of photos-on-my-laptop, I thought I’d share them with you.

‘t Was very early in the morning and this is what I saw when I looked out of the window. So I grabbed my camera and tried to capture that misty, early Spring morning, it-will-be-a-lovely-sunny-day, feeling.

And, since I was awake anyway, and I had my camera with me, I decided to take a little stroll around the golf course behind our house. I see roe deer there almost every day, but never when I have my camera with me. When I have my camera with me, I never see roe deer there. But on this beautiful morning…

… I’ve caught one on camera! Okay, admittedly these are not the best shots, but who cares. I’VE CAUGHT A ROE DEER ON CAMERA. OH YEAH!!!!

And then there was this tranquil pond.

I could almost be tempted to get up very early in the morning every day.

Almost.

  1. Carolina, what a very lovely morning that was! I do get the feeling of 'what a gorgeous day it's going to be'!

And I'm sooo impressed that you caught a roe deer on camera! I have some great deer shots, but all of them from parkland where they are farmed and stand there completely unfazed while you shoot.

I have one or two like yours, of a small and indistinct deer in the distance, and it's a thrill, isn't it?

(I do have a few of deer in the US but they don't count, since they were hanging around almost like mosquitoes there. LOL!)

  2. Ooooh. They are so beautiful. And re-inforce why I am an early riser. No deer here though. The occasional kangaroobie instead. Which I never have the camera at the ready for.

    Thankyou lots.

  4. Beautiful and so serene. Early morning is a good time of day to see things in a different light. I especially love this time in the early spring when the air can still be cold, freezing moisture onto the tree branches and asometimes the light of the sun will illuminate those branches. And if you were not up early, you would never know that the woods could be silver in the early morning.

I love the reflection on the water - such peace in the photo. And the pretty deer in the mist. It's those fleeting glimpses that we cherish.

  5. That first one is like a great opening shot from a horror movie!

  6. Or, you could almost expect to see Yoda expectantly awaiting the arrival of a young Jedi Warrior in the first one.

  7. Beautifully evocative shots, Carolina. I hope the lake isn't on the golf course - I can imagine it wouldn't stay tranquil for long if a golf ball landed in it;-)

  8. I'm an early riser too and it's nice to enjoy nature at times when most people are still sleeping. The images are beautiful, the fog gives them an other-worldly feel and I love the reflections on the tranquil pond.

  9. Your pictures make me want to get out there early in the morning and ride my horse through the mist and those trees.

  10. I am most emphatically not an early riser. Luckily the mists hang in the valley long enough for me to catch them - sometimes.

I can give you shots of late night views, though?

In the meantime I make do with your lovely pictures.
