Sunday Selections is hosted by Kim over at Frogpondsrock. It is the perfect excuse for posting those shots that have been hanging around aimlessly in folders on your computer, waiting to be seen. Hop over to the Rocking Frog Ponds and see what others have posted or dig up some photos yourself and join in.
I just love the smiley faces on those horses. (And yes, that’s my shadow. Oops.)
This German guy (I know he’s German, because we said ‘hallo’ and he replied with ‘guten Abend’) was enjoying his ‘patatje’, which is Dutch for chips, on a Summer’s evening in Appingedam last year.
You probably wouldn’t have noticed, but the people living behind this rather lovely front door are selling hony. Yep, not honey, but hony. Or hone. Or hoey. Because honey in Dutch is ‘honing’ and they left out the n. But I’m sure it will still be delicious.
This lady has managed to bring a little bit of France into the North of the Netherlands, with her little shop in an old wooden caravan, parked under a cherry tree.
Cute, n’est-ce pas?
And I suppose his name is V. Gates?
ReplyDeleteAnd the lady is Polly Voofrahnsay....
ReplyDeleteEvery pic made me smile, Thank YOU ;~)
ReplyDeleteFor Rhymes with Plague - my last name is Gates. When my dad was stationed in Wiesbaden (where I was born) when he was in the Air Force, his buddies would greet him, "Wie geht's, Gates." So, I've heard that particular joke for more than 50 years.
ReplyDeleteI love the Summer feeling in that last one. Winter is ending over here, and I long for the sun!
ReplyDeleteLove the horses! And perhaps the bijen honig people are part Dutch, part German! Enjoying their chips bought with the proceeds of the hony!
ReplyDeleteI to, really like the horses :)
ReplyDeleteThose horses remind me of my childhood! They are delightful as are all your images, love the little bit of France in the Netherlands - how wonderful to work in a blue caravan under a cherry tree :)
ReplyDeleteOooh - the caravan!! The caravan! That one is my favourite - it's just beautiful! Worth framing, I'd say.
ReplyDeleteLove the little horses too, but OH likes the one with the German guy eating chips.
Your country looks so lovely!
ReplyDeleteHugs & love,
Mimi
I love stick horses. I had one when I was a kid. Everybody did in my neighborhood, I think. I sort of thought that maybe today's children wouldn't have them, but there they are! Cool!
ReplyDeleteCute, it's a lovely idea. Might play one of these days if I don't do a Sunday photo walk. Love the little caravan shop.
ReplyDeleteQui tres cute :) I love such places with an atmosphere. Appingedam looks great as well and i would love his patatje. I am not keen on the honing. My opa was a beekeeper so we had too much of it
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhh the french<><><><>almost noone like them
ReplyDeleteHi sweet,
ReplyDeleteThese all really made me long for summertime!
