Would you like my autograph?
Finally something blogworthy happened. Can one's life be more boring than mine? Probably, but honestly, I haven't had any inspiration for a blog story all that time that I haven't been here. So if you've all collectively left me... I can't blame you.
Still, on the off-chance that someone likes to share my smile....
We have a subscription to a glossy equine magazine here in the Netherlands and in their latest edition they asked for people who'd like to write blogs for their new, yet to be launched website. They asked for people who could write about a specific goal they have with their horse, for example; if you're training for an endurance-competition, are you taking up eventing...
People who were interested had to send in a blog, 250 words max. (! very difficult, 250 words is nothing) and then they would choose from those.
So I thought about it for a couple of days and decided I'd try to become a Bit-blogger. My goal being: to train my 'home bred' foal Evie into a lovely, easy going riding horse.
Wrote a tiny 250 words-blog about it and sent it in.
And just now I got an email from Bit. I've been chosen to be one of their Bit-bloggers.
Oh no... the pressure... haha. Now I háve to write a monthly blog. Which is more than I've written for this blog in the last year. Hopefully it will trigger the writing-nerve and will give me inspiration to write here too.
I have enough to write about Evie and all things horsey, but I don't want to write only about horses here.
Oh, and the other fun thing... one of my photographs has been published in a Dutch photography magazine and they've asked if I want to send in another one of my photos that they are thinking of publishing too. No guarantee that it will be published, but it is the thought that counts.
This is actually the fourth photo they've wanted to publish, but stupid me hadn't saved the first two in a large enough size. Ah well... one learns as one goes through life.
So... would you like my autograph?
Who knows... it may be worth real money one day. When I'm a famous photographer/blogger. Chuckling... Probably not. But it's the thought that counts. I think.

DEAR GOD, SHE'S WRITTEN A POST!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCarolina, do you have any idea how many times I have visited this site since April, hoping to read something new from that fabulous mind of yours??? No, you don't.
Congratulations on the Bit-blog writing and the Photograph publishing. I always knew you would go far, and it seems the journey has finally begun. I would indeed like to have your autograph. If you happen to have an old, unused twenty-dollar bill (American) laying around, write your name on it and send it to me. I will cherish it forever, or until I spend it on something frivolous, whichever comes first.
So not even a picture of Evie, let alone Willem and Naloma? (I think I got their names right...it's been so long.)
Aww... dear Rhymeswithplague. How sweet you are. Sending you a huge virtual hug now. Can you feel it? :-) And yes! You've got the names right. The clues are on the right side of this page though, so I'm not thát impressed... chuckling..
DeleteYou know, the thing is... the glossy equine magazine (yep, it does exist) people want a nice photo of me and my horse. I'll very appropriately have nightmares about the idea of being photographed. I prefer to be on the other side of the camera.
How are you and how is Mrs. RWP?
P.S. - I didn't even know there was such a thing as a glossy equine, let alone that there was a magazine devoted to them.
ReplyDeleteA new post! So nice!! And it's even nicer to read that you will be famous. One day I can say 'she hated my curtains, but worked like a horse (!) in my garden'.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome to work in my new garden anytime by the way. It's only about five times bigger! Including a mountain.
Anyway. Hope to read a lot more from you very very soon. Groetjes uit Noorwegen!
Hey Mara, goedemorgen!
DeleteHow's Norway? Don't answer that, I'm going to pop over to your blog to read all about it :-)
groetjes,
Carolina

DeleteMara, your post reminded me of an old riddle:
DeleteQuestion: There is Mr. Bigger and his wife, Mrs. Bigger. Eventually they together produce Baby Boy Bigger. Which one of the three of them is biggest? Answer: Baby Boy, because he is a little Bigger.
Oh RWP, that's so funny :-)
DeleteWell, well , welcome back. Like RWP I have visited many times in the forlorn hope of 'seeing' you again. Congratulations on becoming a bit-blogger -(that sounds quite exotic, which just shows you what a sad life I lead!) and also on your published photographs. How exciting! No wonder you have no time for the hoi-polloi of the blogosphere ;-) . . . bigger fish to fry or horses to ride . . .
ReplyDeleteOh dear Jabblog,
DeleteI feel so guilty for being such a bad blogger. Don't even think that I've forgotten the blogworld, but well... I know you know that sometimes the inspiration just isn't there.
Trainer/friend is coming over in an hour or so to help me with training Evie. I will have to start taking notes while riding, since the Bit-blog will be about training her ;-)
Well done Carolina on becoming a bit blogger. I will be no problem for you to write monthly you are a great writer ......and a photo as well Great stuff. Good to see you back. I blog with bursts and not much at the moment. Life is too busy
ReplyDeleteHi Marja,
DeleteThank you :-)
Sometimes life just gets in the way of blogging. I know. Or there's just simply nothing worth blogging about. Or you can't get the story onto 'paper'. Ah well... it's not as if we're making a living out of it. It's supposed to be fun.
Congratulations!!! That is awesome! Writing and photos!!!
ReplyDeleteHa, thank you :-) It's almost unbelievable. I'm never that lucky. Soon the sky will fall on my head.
DeleteOf course I'd love your autograph! LOL... I recognised your skill with words and camera as soon as I set eyes on you, and am only surprised it took the publishing world so long to acknowledge it too! Bravo, Blogpal! ♥
ReplyDeleteAww Jinksy, thank you :-) I'm trying to catch up with everyone here, which is an impossible job. I'll be around at your place soon.
DeleteBig virtual hug for you my friend.
Sign me up for an autograph! Ha! you're going to be famous!!
ReplyDeleteI was SO pleased to see your comment on my blog, and know that you'd written another post here! I'm kind of sorry you're not going to write horsey posts here though - I did enjoy those, sprinkled in amongst the others, especially the ones about the vet, and the lovely photos.
Anyway, many, many congratulations on the magazine acceptances, and the blog request! i am proud of you!
Haha... I keep telling Evie that she's going to be famous. And then hubs said: 'you too', which put a dampener on my enthusiasm. We'll see. The magazine is pretty popular in the world of horses here, but maybe no one will read the website or my blog.
DeleteThank you :-D
It's so nice to hear from you again. And with such exciting news too! Congratulations on getting the bit blog and your photos published. You're one talented girl. Oh and please don't forget us when you become rich and famous ;)
ReplyDeleteHmm... I'd have to win the lottery to become rich. Come to think of it, I believe you need to buy lottery tickets to win the lottery. Shoot!
DeleteSo that won't happen.
Evie will probably be the most 'famous' one. IF anyone reads those blogs. And she's quite down to earth :-)
Well, if it was only lack of ideas that kept you away . . .
ReplyDeleteThats alright then.
Congratulations on your world fame; don’t become big-headed, will you.
Thanks. Too late. My head is already too big to fit through the door ;-)
DeleteVery awesome! Isn't it a thrill to find out somebody likes you enough to publish your work? Any time I sell a piece of writing, I get a special sort of thrill. But, 250 words? I take that long to say "Hello!"
ReplyDelete250 words is NOTHING! It's a real challenge to keep to that and still write an enjoyable piece. Ah well, you know, kill your darlings, less is more and all that. Fortunately they don't count commas as a word.
DeleteAnd of course, congratulations to you too :-D
I recently submitted a 12-word story. That was what was requested - exactly twelve words, with some sort of sexual content. I would give it to you here, but I don't want to harm chances of publication :-)
Deletehahaha...so, you're writing letters to Playboy now?
DeleteNo, but seriously, it is a challenge if you have a limited number of words to use. Although... I'm sure 12 words story with sexual content... that must not have been too difficult for you ;-) I am curious now and would love to read it one day.
Lovely news and good to see a post from you. Look forward to you giving us a link to the writing so we can all enjoy that too.
ReplyDelete:)
That's great Carolina... exciting times!
